MESSAGE TO THE WORLD

When you go into a temple in Thailand, there are two non-negotiable rules:

1.  Take off your shoes.
2.  Dress properly.

For the tourists that are not dressed appropriately, garments are provided.

There’s an attendant that waves down the folks that have unacceptable expanses of bare skin in evidence, and provides them with a less-than-fashionable, already-worn-by-someone-else, robe that will sufficiently cover their naked limbs.

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell the tourists of the world to heed the mandate of the sacred temples, not just in Bangkok, but everywhere.

Please.  Dress.  Properly.

this reminds me of being in London in 1994 for a senior college summer trip….bliss!…and the other students had to inform my boneheaded self that you could NOT go into Harrod’s without shoes that weren’t sneakers or sandles but leather shoes and you had to have a collar around your shirt and pants. or you could not go in. not sure about 2015. but 1994, leather shoes! collar on shirt! pants! okay!
