TANGIER: Dar Nour Guesthouse

After rockin’ the Kasbah to find it, I opened the door into the charming Dar Nour Guesthouse. The “House of Light” is actually five houses connected by passageways and flights of stairs leading to its seven guest rooms and the rooftop terraces that overlook the Bay of Tangier on one side and the city on the other.

The current owners are French—an archaeologist, Catherine Arlaud, a journalist, Philippe Chaslot, and an architect, Jean-Olivier Arfeuillère. They have filled the cozy rooms with intriguing artwork, gorgeous textiles, and vintage Moroccan treasures.

Style. Moment. Heaven.

And the view from my bed. Divine.

At dusk I stood on the rooftop terrace watching the sun set.

It was Ramadan, and fasting was over for the day—it was time to worship.

Then the moon rose dramatically above the horizon, and the soul stirring sounds of the call to prayer floated up from mosques all over Tangier.

It was magnificent.

This is why I travel.

PAM, wonderful….the place, the photos, hearing from you.  I just came back from my walk in St Malo and was thinking of you.  My next travels I need to check with you for The Place to Stay!  How is the book coming along?

I want to be like you when I grow up! Very envious of you my dear friend :)Your photos and writing make me feel as if I were there but really fuel my desire to travel to many of the places you have been.
