Basilica of the Holy Blood (Basiliek van het Heilig-Bloed)
Burg Square, Bruges
12th century basilica; on display is a fragment of cloth stained with what is said to be the blood of Christ, wiped from his body after the crucifixion. The Romanesque lower level is beautifully austere with very little decoration, while the Gothic upper level is alive with color and detail. In four languages, a sign in the entrance says, (this is the English translation) " Sure you would like to preserve the peaceful character of this basilica, so kindly help us by not disturbing it with noise and by keeping a worthy and reflected attitude."
Kleine Sint-Amandsstraat 5, Bruges
I ate lunch every day here, it was so delicious. Fresh, inventive salads and soups, home-baked bread, and the best fruit crumble I've ever had.
Sint-Amandsstraat 36, Bruges
Clean, comfortable apartments, conveniently located above the shops of a pedestrian shopping street in the center of Bruges
